#CAP - Linking the Aggregated Power of Global Business with Specific Local Policy Opportunities
The implementation of the Paris Agreement crucially depends on local policy progress. For such progress, in turn, the voice of business is key. As traditional local business representation often is conservative and dominated by local incumbents, the voice of global sustainability business leaders becomes all the more important. For a global firm, on the other hand, navigating different local policy opportunities and coordinating between global and local policy positions can be a challenge.
#CAP, the #ClimateAction Advocacy Platform, is an IT-based solution that links local policy opportunities with global businesses leaders (allowing them to opt-in to pre-selected local policy positions). #CAP customizes information for each participating firm (referencing internal and science-based targets, industry benchmarks, relevant global initiatives, etc). At the same time, #CAP facilitates internationally coherent policy management, offering communication, bench-marking, and awareness tools.
#CAP has the potential to significantly accelerate Paris Agreement implementation through better advocacy. As a policy-neutral, not-for-profit platform, #CAP pools the resources of global climate leaders and empowers local actors (strong impact, low cost).
