Attempting to understand the multiple definitions and approaches to “net-zero” climate commitments can be challenging. This CPLC technical workshop, co-hosted by IETA and EDF, will unpack government and corporate net-zero plans and pathways, and hone in on the crucial role that carbon pricing and carbon market cooperation must play to facilitate and accelerate ambitious decarbonization trajectories. The session brings together business, NGO and technical experts to discuss why “net zero” means different things to different people, share the latest economic research on markets (including Article 6) for enhanced ambition, and examine the critical role of land-use, protecting our tropical forests and driving removals at scale to support climate ambition.
