New climate certification standard open for consultation
Gold Standard for the Global Goals, a new standard from leading climate certification body Gold Standard, is now open for consultation.
Launching in June, this new standard quantifies and verifies the positive impacts of climate initiatives toward the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs). It will provide project developers and funders with the flexibility to certify the specific climate and SDG impacts they want to support, through the application of the right safeguards, processes and policies.
Gold Standard invites all relevant stakeholders to contribute to the second and final public consultation, by feeding back on different elements of the standard by 2nd April, 2017:
- Base standard: Requirements, Stakeholder Guidelines and Procedures, and Safeguarding Principles for Gold Standard for the Global Goals
- Claims guidelines: To ensure the certified SDG claims that the new standard enables meet the needs of project developers and funders while maintaining accuracy and credibility
- Context specific module for Sustainable Urban Development (SDG 11)
