CPLC Fourth High-Level Assembly 2019

The Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition will hold its fourth annual High-Level Assembly (HLA) meeting in Washington, DC on April 11, 2019, as part of the World Bank Group/International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings. This High-Level Assembly will bring together ministers, CEOs and other executives/senior-level officials from the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition’s (CPLC’s) partner organizations to establish the vision and the strategic direction of the Coalition and take stock of the global progress on carbon pricing. 

At this HLA, the new CPLC Co-Chair, Susana Jiménez Schuster, Minister of Energy, Chile, will be announced. 

The meeting will feature the World Bank Interim President and CEO, Kristalina Georgieva, and the IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde. The keynote speakers will be Philippe Le Houérou, IFC CEO, and Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, former Minister of Finance, Nigeria and Co-Chair of the New Climate Economy Commission. 

This year, the event will focus on two pressing issues: 

▪ The opportunities and challenges of integrating carbon pricing into investment decision making 

▪ How to ensure carbon pricing policies are designed with consideration of larger social and development concerns. 

All partners are invited to participate in the HLA, with priority given to senior-level representatives around the table. An overflow room will be available for all other participants. 

CARBON PRICING IN THE AMERICAS: STOCK-TAKE & KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE

April 10 | 1:30-5:30PM | The Resources and Conservation Center

The “Carbon Pricing in the Americas: Stock-Take and Knowledge Exchange” event organized by Partnership for Market Readiness secretariat, Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition secretariat, and International Emissions Trading Association, and hosted by Resources for the Future, will take stock of carbon pricing progress in the region, exploring lessons learned and experiences to-date from jurisdictions’ experiences with designing and implementing carbon pricing initiatives.

CPLC TECHNICAL WORKSHOP

April 12 | 8:15AM-3:30PM | Embassy of Canada

On April 12th, CPLC will organize a full day of workshops carried out by CPLC Partners. The workshops will be related to the themes of the HLA. We invite all partners to participate. Learn more about the workshops here.

Registration

In order to register to attend CPLC's Fourth Annual High-Level Assembly, please complete the following:

1. Register for the HLA, Technical Workshop, and/or Carbon Pricing in the Americas: Stock-Take & Knowledge Exchange using the form below.

2. Register for the World Bank/IMF Spring Meeting badge below the form. (Only required if you are attending the HLA on the 11th)

The Carbon Pricing in the Americas: Stock-Take & Knowledge Exchange will take place from 1:30-5:30PM on April 10 at The Resources and Conservation Center. The CPLC Technical Workshop will take place from 8:15AM-3:30PM on April 12 at the Embassy of Canada.

ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS REQUIRE A SPRING MEETINGS BADGE

In addition to the above registration form, all participants are required to register for a WB\IMF Spring Meetings Badge to enter the WBG and IMF facilities throughout the week of the Spring Meetings. All participants must be accredited before the Meetings, and are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible to avoid delays. 

Spring Meetings attendees may obtain their badge at Registration Desks located in the lobby of the World Bank Group I Building (1850 I ("Eye") Street, NW). Registration will be open from Monday, April 8 until the Meetings close on Sunday, April 14, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm daily (times subject to change).
